How to spend the perfect pamper night in

20170117 pamper

Sometimes a good ol' fashioned pamper-filled night in is all you need to hit refresh and reboot.

For those long, cold, wet winter days, there is something particularly gratifying about sinking into a steaming bath, surrounded by candles with your favourite book and tipple of choice at arms-length.

Here, we share our step-by-step guide to indulging in the ultimate pamper session, from sumptuously scented bath oils to the art of multi-masking...

1. Run a bath

If you haven't yet tried one of Aromatherapy Associates' bath oils, you're in for a treat. Not only do the deeply nourishing formulas leave your skin feeling silky smooth, their intense aromas provide a full-body sensory experience that has the ability to (literally) alter your body and mind. This Relax Light scent blends the relaxing and restful properties of lavender and ylang ylang to leave you feeling joyfully zen.

If you preach the philosophy of the more bubbles the better, this Neal's Yard foaming bath infusion is packed full of mineral-rich seaweed and essentials oils of lemon, pine and juniper to revitalise and soothe tired muscles.

2. Light a candle

To accompany an army of tea lights that line the bath, treat yourself to a luxury scented candle that's sure to add a sense of tranquility to your space. Neom’s Scent to Instantly De-Stress Candle does exactly what it says on the tin thanks to its 100% natural formula of lavender, jasmine and rosewood to make you feel calm and banish the stresses of the day - it's truly divine.

Neom Real Luxury Scented Candle Scent To De-Stress, £30; Available at Fenwick Brent Cross, Canterbury, Colchester, Kingston, Newcastle, Tunbridge Wells, Windsor, York

3. Masks

Take multi-masking to the next level with our 3-pronged attack: a mask for your face and hair whilst in the bath, plus a high-tech sheet mask for when you're lounging around in your dressing gown after.

Apply a good clay-based mask to dry, cleansed skin to purify congested pores, then run a hair mask or thick oil, like this 100% Organic Coconut Oil by Sister & Co. through your hair and leave it to work its magic nourishing dry, brittle ends while you relax.

Once out the bath, apply Estée Lauder's award-winning foil sheet mask that's infused with a concentrated dose of their Advanced Night Repair formula that delivers a surge of liquid revitalisation thanks to it's high quantities of hyaluronic acid.

Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask, £15.75; Available at Fenwick  Colchester, Tunbridge Wells
Sister & Co. Cold Pressed Raw 100% Organic Coconut Oil, £6.95; Available at Fenwick Kingston
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery PowerFoil Mask, £16 for 1 mask or £58 for pack of 4; Available at Fenwick stores nationwide.

4. Exfoliate

A full-body exfoliation will work wonders on all skin types and ages, and waiting for the bath to run is the perfect time to indulge. A good body scrub, ideally massaged on to dry skin and then rinsed off, will slough away dead skin cells to give a much smoother texture. We're fans of the Ren Moroccan Rose Otto Sugar Body Polish, which uses natural sugars and oils to boost circulation and replenish moisture levels.

Buff into the skin in circular motions then sink into the bath and let the scrub's sumptuously scented oils work into dry skin and add to the bath's overall aroma - this is a great trick for softening the hairs before shaving your legs!

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Sugar Body Polish, £32; Available at Fenwick Bond Street, Bracknell, Brent Cross, Canterbury, Kingston, Newcastle, Tunbridge Wells, Windsor, York

5. Nourish

Once sufficiently relaxed and your skin is resembling that of a wrinkly prune, it's time to hop out the bath and lock in that precious moisture with some luxurious oils. Renowned for using the finest essential oils going, Darphin’s 8-Flower Nectar blends eight flower essences, including iris, neroli, patchouli and ylang ylang to rebalance, soften, firm and boost skin’s radiance.

For the body, we’re big fans of the 100% natural Body Serum by stylish new skincare brand Immunocologie. Packed with nutrient-rich essential oils containing vitamins A and E, the serum soothes and deeply nourishes limbs.

6. Put the kettle on

If you like a glass of wine to accompany you in your perfect pamper night in, then by all means go ahead. But if you want to fully embrace the New Year’s detox vibe sans- alcohol and caffeine,  Aveda’s Comforting Tea is a soothing herbal hug in a mug. Using a 100% organic infusion of naturally sweet liquorice root  and peppermint, the comforting tea helps you feel relaxed and aids digestion.

Brew the loose leaves with a tea strainer for maximum flavour and inhale the relaxing scent as your curl up with your favourite book (or latest Netflix obsession).
