When looking for the face of its latest fragrance Sauvage, Dior wanted, “a man bestowed with a unique depth” and “a true movie hero”. Who better then to embody its virile, confident, provocative notes than actor Johnny Depp?
Although the 51-year-old is a Hollywood grandee, he has never been the face of a fragrance in his lengthy career - and the pairing is already creating quite a stir.
The scent, composed by perfumer Francois Demachy, is described by Dior as “an olfactory shock”.
Only the seventh men’s fragrance Dior has produced, Sauvage is expected to become a modern classic, “that will astonish and last several lifetimes”.
To mark the launch, Depp will star in a short film directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino and with an original soundtrack by Ry Cooder, which is out on September 3.
The actor recently joined an all-star cast for Rob Marshall’s “Into the Woods” and will next be seen starring in Scott Cooper’s “Black Mass”, slated for release in September.
Fans keen to discover Sauvage can head to Dior counters in Fenwick stores for a complimentary sample.
