Magical milliner Philip Treacy's new collection for M.A.C

When it comes to hats, couture milliner Philip Treacy's are designed to make your heart beat faster. Now the man behind the Duchess of Cambridge and Lady Gaga's headwear has created a makeup range for M.A.C cosmetics to set pulses racing even faster.

Hitting Fenwick Brent Cross on April 16,  the collection, in Treacy's words, focuses on "colour, exuberance and beauty". To showcase the collaboration he created three magnificent headpieces, each one designed to highlight the beauty of the female face as well as the impact of the lip, eye and cheek colours conjured to show the face to its best advantage.

Inspired by designs from his extensive archive – his famous butterfly headpiece designed for Alexander McQueen is currently on display as part of the Savage Beauty exhibition at the Victoria & Albert museum - the collection is loosely based around three themes seen throughout his 26-year career: Hollywood, colour and a gothic vibe.

Treacy joins a long line of collaborations with icons in the world of music, fashion and art in the affectionately “dysfunctional” M.A.C family, which includes Liza Minnelli, Catherine Deneuve, RuPaul and Rihanna.

The latest is one of its most effortless pairings when you consider the legacy of Treacy’s hats, which appeal to a cross- section of women, combined with the M.A.C mantra of makeup for, “all ages, all races, all sexes”.

And, as with all M.A.C collections, the names are almost as fun as the products themselves. Our favourites? The 'No Faux Pas' hot pink lipstick and 'Royal Wink' blue fluidline – a reference perhaps to Princess Beatrice's headpiece that hit the headlines following the Royal wedding.

We have a preview of the new collection featuring Treacy’s masterful eye for colour, structure and surface effects below - it's not to be missed.
