If you've found yourself in a winter slump, look no further than London's Novello Theatre to lift your spirits.
Now in its 16th year at the iconic location, MAMMA MIA! is the most fun we've had in ages - the perfect feel-good show to take your mum to on Mother's Day...
Set to the music of legendary Swedish pop group ABBA, the story, written by Catherine Johnson, takes place on a wanderlust-worthy Greek island where chaos ensues on the eve of daughter Sophie's wedding. After discovering her mother Donna's old diary, Sophie hopes to discover the identity of her father by inviting three men from her mother's past to her wedding, but things get complicated when all three show up on the island ready for the big day.
Songs like "Dancing Queen" and "The Winner Takes It All", which were the main inspirations for the musical for creative producer Judy Craymer, keep emotions running high throughout. The fantastic cast, including Gabriella Williams (Wonderful Town, Crazy for You) as Sophie and Dianne Pilkington (The 39 Steps, Cats) as Donna, effectively tell the hilarious story of love, the bond between a mother and a daughter and the friendship between three strong-willed but incredibly different women.
We'll admit it - by the end we were dancing in the aisles with achy faces smiling non-stop. Like the 2008 film starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, MAMMA MIA! is uplifting, inspiring and emotional - a must-see for anyone craving some time in the sun!
