A modern muse: Sixty seconds with blogger and author Fleur de Force

Fleur fashion1

What began six years ago with a few videos alone in her bedroom at university talking about her favourite beauty buys has turned into 1.2million subscribers on YouTube, contracts with Sainsbury's and Starbucks – and even an appearance on this year’s Comic Relief. But not only is Fleur de Force a vlogger to be reckoned with, her new book, The Glam Guide, means she now has the written word in her power too. We asked her to finish a few all-important sentences...

When I was little I loved to...

Get crafty. I was obsessed with painting and decorating things. I used to decorate little gift boxes and sell them at charity sales my mum used to host!

My bedroom was...

Bright orange with a tiny little antique four-poster bed.

When I was a teenager I used to wear…

Parachute pants! The baggy ones with all the straps on them. I had a black pair and a red pair.

I always wanted to be...

A lawyer. I thought arguing for a living would be fun.

My proudest moment has been...

Holding a printed copy of my book for the very first time. Words can't quite describe the feeling.

I never imagined I would...

Work in beauty and fashion. I have always loved fashion, and got really in to beauty in my late teens but never thought I could turn it into a career.

I love…

My dogs, my family, seafood, sunshine and sleep!

I can’t leave the house without…

My phone and my Vlogging camera!

Lately I've learnt to...

Make bricks! I went on an amazing trip to Zambia with Comic Relief. We visited an education project out there and spent time with a 16 year old boy called Emanuelle who showed us how to make bricks. He'd taught himself to do it and made money building for his neighbours.

I’m proud of…

Where YouTube is today. When I started it was just a bit of fun. I've seen it turn into a whole new industry and one of the most influential forms of media. I'm proud to have been part of that journey.

I admire...

My husband Mike. He has such a positive outlook on life that inspires me every day and is so kind to everyone.

I understand…

That YouTube won't last forever. I'm just making the most of every opportunity that comes my way, and having a great time while doing so.

I blog because…

I'm genuinely passionate about the things I talk about.

If I had a day to myself I would...

I actually really hate being alone, so I'd probably have a lie in, then prepare for a dinner party with all of my friends.
