The Telegraph Editors' Christmas Gift Guides: Marianne Jones

To help you find the perfect presents, we’ve quizzed editors at The Telegraph to find out what products have made it onto their shopping lists this Christmas. First up is Editor of Stella Magazine, Marianne Jones, who shares what she’ll be buying her loved ones (and herself!) this year…

Oh Christmas! The only time of the year it is acceptable to stay welded to the sofa, watching Bad Santa and sipping a pint of Baileys. I love it. But as the sole female in a houseful of males large and small, it appears to always be left to me to do the shopping, which is fine, because I’m great at shopping.

At 16 and almost 13, my sons are getting tougher to buy for with every passing year. The house has gone from being full of plastic toys to being full of trainers and designer fragrance. However, when our two young nephews come over, the Lego and Star Wars toys are still a hit.

Buying presents has always been something I hugely enjoy. I don’t think it matters what you spend but you do need to put a bit of thought into it. A favourite photo in a frame or a personalised box of chocolates aren't pricey, but they do show thought. My mum is the easiest person to buy for because, like me, she adores beauty products and fashion, but my husband is a tricky so-and-so. He is both vague and fussy so I tend to buy him safe but quality presents from brands such as Paul Smith, which I know he loves.

Advent calendars are fab, particularly ones containing amazing beauty treats, so this will keep me happy all December. They take me right back to when I was little, when the only thing behind each window was a picture of a candle or a crib.

Limited Edition Clarins Advent Calendar, £95; Available at Fenwick stores nationwide

Going to my neighbour’s house with this will go down a treat. Every year she and her husband invite 20 of us around to get the party started early. She loves designer and she loves prosecco, so this is a win-win situation as the bottle is a such a showstopper.

Bottega Rose Gold Magnum 1.5L, £42;  Available at Fenwick Canterbury, Newcastle, Tunbridge Wells, York

My husband is the biggest fan of Paul Smith and will be thrilled with this wallet. Plus it isn’t socks, so that’s got to be a bonus. Mind you, if they were Paul Smith socks he would still be happy.

Paul Smith Stripe Wallet, £150; Available at Bond Street, Kingston, Newcastle, York

My foodie big sister (she’s a chef) would love to have her name on these gorgeous chocolates. Having something personalised just makes it that little bit extra special and my sis is the type of person to hold onto the box and find something useful to put inside.

Charbonnel & Walker Personalised Lid Chocolate Truffles, £12.95; available at Fenwick Newcastle, York, Leicester

This lovely pitcher from Georg Jensen will look great on the table for meals or parties. It would be rude, after all, to neglect to buy the house a present!

Georg Jensen Urkiola Pitcher 1L, £150; Available at Colchester, Newcastle

My 16-year-old son is far fussier than my husband when it comes to fragrance and he loves designer brands. This one smells so sublime that I will also use it when he’s not looking (although unlike him I won’t drown myself in it).

Prada L'Homme Eau de Toilette, £49 for 50ml; Available at Fenwick Bond Street, Brent Cross, Colchester, Canterbury, Kingston, Newcastle, Tunbridge Wells, Windsor, York

As anyone who knows me will confirm, I adore a bag – and particularly a hands-free one (it means you can then also carry a tote). This lovely chocolate Michael Kors number is perfect for work. As readers of Stella will know, brown is back in a big way, so practical and on-trend. Win-win.

Michael Kors Jet Set Leather Cross-body Bag, £155; Available at Fenwick Colchester, Kingston, Tunbridge Wells, Windsor, York

As lovers of both colour and print, my mum and I might fight over this exquisite Missoni wool scarf. But I’ll let her have it! It’s the sort of scarf that will brighten up any outfit pretty much all year round.

Missoni Wool Scarf,  £109; Available at Brent Cross, Bond Street
