The five Instagrammers you need to follow for Fashion Week

London Fashion Week may be a key event in the social calendar of the style set, but keeping up with shows and events can be overwhelming. No fear - we've rounded up the five Instagram accounts you need to follow to stay on top of the who's who and what's what during the fashion capital's SS16 show, taking place from 18 to 22 September.

 1. The beauty guru

Val Garland

@thevalgarland

This makeup artist, renowned for her work with MAC, has seen her beauty work with the industry’s top models grace covers of VOGUE. Garland is sure to be displaying her latest looks on her profile – or if not, at least some backstage selfies.

 2. The fashion judge

Hilary Alexander

@hilaryalexanderobe

Alexander, former fashion director of The Daily Telegraph and iconic fashion and style writer, promised The Daily Muse that her Instagram and Twitter profiles will be constantly updated as she sits in on top LFW shows. Watch out for her roundup on the Muse once Fashion week wraps up – next up, she’ll be taking a judging post on the upcoming season of Britain’s Next Top Model.

 3. The hair master

Sam McKnight

@sammcknight1

The hairstyles that grace the covers of your favourite monthly fashion mags are often the work of modern hairstylist Sam McKnight, who has collaborated with the likes of Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel as well as Vivienne Westwood over the years. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for SS16.

 4. The It Girl

Olivia Palermo

@oliviapalermo

While she may be a New Yorker, this socialite is a beacon of style worldwide. She’s definitely one to watch for fashion inspiration during LFW to track which highbrow events are in her social calendar, both through Instagram and on her blog

 5. The style authority

British Fashion Council

@britishfashioncouncil

This account provides official images from LFW and surrounding events and gives showgoers and fashion fans the chance to stay up to date on products, collaborations and designer showcases, such as this LFW tote bag created by Gareth Pugh and Sunglass Hut.
