5 Beauty Resolutions for 2018

20180105 resolutions

From copious amounts of rich food to one-too-many bottles of fizz, your beauty game is just one of the areas that may be suffering after an over-indulgent month of festivities. Here, we round up five beauty resolutions to help tackle these concerns - tired, dull skin and over processed hair - as well as best practice mantras to embrace as you head into the new year.

Resolution #1: Use a nightly serum

Step up your skincare regime in 2018 with a serum; thanks to their potent ingredients and ability to penetrate skin cells, a serum is a crucial part of your skincare that is worth investing time and money in.

BareMinerals’ new Ageless Genius line contains a smoothing serum that deeply hydrates and renews the skin thanks to a number of high-performing ingredients of the moment, including age-defying peptides, Squalane and Vitamin A.

BareMinerals AGELESS GENIUS® Firming & Wrinkle Smoothing Serum, £48; Available at Fenwick Brent Cross, Canterbury, Kingston, Newcastle, Tunbridge Wells, York

Resolution #2: Hair and scalp care

If you suffer with thinning hair, or feel you need to get ahead on the damaging process, Aveda’s new and improved Invati Advanced range harnesses powerful, organic ingredients to protect and bolster your hair.

The re-release of their favoured Invati range now boasts a bigger and better formula via a 3-step system that includes their nourishing shampoo, thickening conditioner and scalp revitalizer. The revitalizer now only needs to be used once a day and uses tangerine peel, amla and turmeric to invigorate the scalp, support the hair’s natural keratin and thicken strands from the root when massaged in.

Aveda invati advanced™ range: exfoliating shampoo, £25; thickening conditioner, £27; scalp revitalizer, £47; Available at Fenwick Brent Cross, Canterbury, Colchester, Kingston, Newcastle, Tunbridge Wells, York

Resolution #3: Priming makes perfect

If any of these complexion concerns ring a bell: dull, patchy skin tone that sucks up foundation and often clings to dry patches, Charlotte Tilbury’s new Brightening Youth Glow Primer is for you.

This super smart formula is packed with hydrating, anti-redness ingredients and pearlescent pigments to give your skin a luminous glow under foundation that evens skin tone and blurs blemishes and marks. Massage the primer into moisturised skin before your foundation of choice for a fresh faced look that lasts all day.

Resolution #4: Embrace bold lipstick

The days of being intimidated by bold lipsticks are behind you. Laura Mercier launched their brand new Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick collection this week, which boasts high-impact pigments in a number of beautiful bold shades that is surprisingly easy to wear.

The formula’s mattifying powders are fused with silky conditioners for the long-lasting benefits of a matte lipstick without drying or cracking. Plus, the slim bullet packaging and built-in sharpener means you can precisely define and fill in lips sans-lip liner. So there’s no excuse to not jump into the fabulous world of colour this season!

Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick, £22; Available at Fenwick Bond Street, Bracknell, Brent Cross, Colchester, Kingston, Newcastle, Tunbridge Wells, York

Resolution #5: The Power of Vitamin C

Vitamin C was one of beauty’s biggest buzz-words in 2017, and for good reason. Good skin starts with good cleansing, and Vitamin C not only deeply exfoliates the skin, in doing so it removes dead skin cells to reveal a more radiant, even complexion that is noticeably smoother and firmer.

Clinique’s brilliant 7-day system contains packets of pure Vitamin C powder cleanser that works into lather when activated with water. Follow with their Daily Booster with pure Vitamin C 10% in a special stay-fresh packaging that keeps the active ingredience fresh and its most potent for when it comes into contact with the skin.
