What is your favourite holiday memory?

It’s always been my dream to go on safari and in July 2013 this dream finally came true. I have to admit, it was the best trip of my life. First, my family and I (15 of us!) stopped in Cape Town, which is stunning. Everything was amazing, not to mention, inspiring - the beaches, mountains, and rich colors — all of it. And the food is fresh, organic, and local – so good. The best parts of Cape Town were the villages and people we met. One night we had dinner with a man who was on Robben Island prison with Nelson Mandela. He was fascinating and so charming.

Then my family and I were off on safari through South Africa and Botswana. The animals are literally right in front of you and they seem to be looking into your eyes — it’s unbelievable. We witnessed elephants giving their new babies a bath and a cheetah catching an impala while a leopard waited patiently to steal his catch.

Where is your favourite place to escape?

I’ve travelled the world but one of my favourite destinations happens to be just an hour’s drive away from my house in New Jersey, a sleepy, seaside village called Bay Head. My family and I have been coming here for years and I can honestly say it’s one of my favourite places on earth. It’s a time when the whole family can relax and be together. I’m happiest when I’m with my family.

What is your favourite view?

Honestly, I’m happiest close to home. My favorite view is the from the back porch of my beach house overlooking the ocean. I love to sit out there in the evening with my family – it’s incredibly relaxing.

Who is your ideal travelling companion?

I love going on holiday with my husband and three sons. Now that my sons are older, vacations are even more special. It’s a time when we can relax and catch up.

Which is your favourite hotel in the world?

My absolute favorite home-away-from-home is London’s Connaught hotel – it’s heavenly and quintessentially English. They offer the best selection of teas—especially the ginger tea that they brew daily from thin-sliced ginger root. I always have a cup (or three).

What have you learnt about flying in comfort and style?

I travel a lot for leisure but it’s also a big part of my job. This past year, I’ve been to London, Madrid, Hong Kong and throughout Australia, Miami and Los Angeles. I try to stay healthy even when I travel. I pack my carry-on with healthy snacks like almonds, flaxseed crackers, kale chips and canned coconut water so that I can skip the unhealthy food options that are usually offered on planes.

What is the best meal you've had while travelling?

One of my most favourite meals is the Dover sole at Scott’s restaurant in London. The honeycomb ice cream is also a must-have. But I try to eat healthy most of the time when I travel but I allow myself the occasional indulgence when it’s worth it. For example, if I’m in France, I’m going to have a croissant for breakfast, and if I’m in Italy, I’m going to enjoy some pasta.

Where is your favourite beach?

I love going to the Bahamas. The beaches there are beautiful - white, powder-soft sand and turquoise water. I’m happiest when I’m at the beach.

What are your holiday beauty essentials?

Cabin air is dehydrating so I keep skin well-moisturised by layering several moisturising formulas like Extra Face Oil and then Extra Moisturising Balm, and I drink plenty of water during the flight. To prevent swollen, puffy eyes, I like to bring an eye mask on board so my eyes can relax and I’m more likely to fall asleep. I also apply Hydrating Face Tonic to my skin, including the eye area to further helps to soothe and soften my skin.

Also, I always pack a concealer, a pot rouge, a really black mascara and long-wearing gel eyeliner. All these items instantly make you look refreshed and healthy, even through jetlag and the eyeliner comes in handy when you want to dress up your look for an evening out.

What luggage do you use?

Rimowa’s carry-on sized suitcase. It’s sleek, lightweight and holds everything I need for a flight.

And what's inside?

I like to pack oversized scarves since they can double as blankets on the plane, serve as cosy scarves for cooler climates and can dress up outfits. I also carry our customisable palette with some of my favourite shadows. It helps streamline my makeup routine without sacrificing my options. I’ll usually include a couple of brown shades to be used as my shadow, liner, and brow filler. I also make sure to pack a good book, and my iPhone.

What is your best tip for adventure?

When I travel I don’t like to over plan. Instead, I’ll wake up early, put on my sneakers and go for a long walk. That way, you get to explore the city while exercising. You also end up seeing cool things that aren’t always recommended in a guidebook.

And finally, where will you be heading this summer?

I will be spending most weekends at our beach house in Bay Head. I enjoy cooking, reading, watching movies, playing family games and just spending time relaxing on the beach.
