British Beauty Blogger on MAC's new Le Disko collection

Channelling steamy Ibiza nights at Pascha and cocktails at New York’s Studio 54, the 70s are back with more reflection than a glitter ball thanks to the MAC Le Disko collection writes British Beauty Blogger Jane Cunningham. It’s perfectly timed for festival season where shimmering shades, temporary metallic tattoos and flower-laden braids are a modern update on retro beauty looks.

With 12 Dazzleshadows to twinkle on your lids, five Dazzleglass glosses to ignite your smile, and two lightening flash Superslick Liquid Eyeliners, the look is all about lavish lustre. Poolside, party time or midnight picnics – let the light show begin.

Any woman can wear sparkles; it’s just a question of finding your comfort zone. Forget chunky glitter shadow of the past – MAC’s Dazzleshadow is smooth as suede on the lids; be warned, you’ll want to add more!

Shimmers can be worn as a full-on lid - try Let’s Boogie, a deep, glinting black for a super-smokin Debbie Harry vibe, with long, spidery lashes coated with black mascara. But, to bring them right up to date, and for the shimmer-shy, use as a wash of colour, applied with a loose eye brush to give a slick of sheen over bare lids.

For older women, where lid definition isn’t as it was, a line of metallic close to the lash line gives a flash of light every time you blink. Wet the powder and use a fine liner brush for this effect or opt for a high-gleam liner. The collection is available from July.

Dazzleshadow in She Sparkles, £16

A heather grey shadow with pink and silver sparkles that will light up your lids to make them look bigger and more defined.

Dazzleshadow in I Like 2 Watch, £16

A fulsome, fiery, golden shade that has the Jerry Hall high-sheen eye look of the 70s all wrapped up.

Dazzleglass in Rollergirl, £17.50

This nude with pink pearl gloss brings a flash of disco up-to-date for safe-with-surprises high-gloss lips.

Superslick Liquid Eyeliner in Pure Show, £18

This yellow gold, molten liner is the festival girl’s strongest flash light trick. Use it to draw flowers or hearts on your cheekbones or arms or as a simple lid line with nothing else at all.

If you’re going all-in, this is the shade for you! It’s a vibrant purple shade dancing with vivid shimmers – just add your best boho maxi dress and a Farrah Fawcett flick.
