We’ve rounded up five fab foundations, all boasting modern, high-tech formulas that range in finish and coverage - from Laura Mericer and YSL to NARS and bareMinerals.
**THE GLOW GIVER**
Giorgio Armani’s latest offering to their popular foundation wardrobe, Maestro Glow, is packed full of nourishing oils and finely milled pigments, that, when mixed together, glide onto the skin, leaving a noticeably fresh, supple radiance behind. Ideal for normal to dry skin, the brand’s International Make-Up Artist Linda Cantello described the new formula as “perfect for summer days when a warmer, glowier finish is desired” – perfect, now roll on summer, please!

**THE FATIGUE FIGHTER**
YSL have relaunched their original Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation with this longer-lasting offering that boasts even more radiance-boosting technology. Now infused with golden pigments and anti-fatigue complex that are housed in the brand’s infamous Touche Éclat pen, this juicy formula banishes shadows and dullness for a bright, healthy-looking glow. Creative Make-Up Director Lloyd Simmonds suggests "dispensing a few drops into the YSL Y-shape brush, then working it into the skin in circular movements from the centre of the face out."

**THE SHINE CONTROLLER**
NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint has an oil-free formula that delivers a natural-looking finish and keeps skin prone to excess oil and shine in check. Transparent blurring powders even skin tone, while rose fruit extract refines the appearance of pores, giving a velvety smooth texture to the skin.

**FOR 'LIT FROM WITHIN' SKIN**
Laura Mercier explains that she has “always been fascinated with the way candlelight casts a spell on a woman’s face, creating a warm ambiance and glow", which was the inspiration behind her new Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation. A blend of radiance-boosting pearl mica mimics the reflective glow of candlelight on the skin, while lightweight oils lock in moisture to smooth fine lines and pores. Perfect for dull, ageing complexions, she recommends applying the foundation in with fingers or a brush after her Foundation Primer in Radiance for double the glow.

**THE 'BARELY THERE' BASE**
Combining the best of tinted moisturisers, BB and CC creams, bareMineral’s Complexion Rescue provides sheer to medium coverage for a naturally radiant finish. If you suffer from parched skin, this uber-hydrating formula feels more like a nourishing moisturiser than a foundation that smooths skin tone and imparts a healthy tint. The bareMinerals team suggest applying it with their new dual fibre Smoothing Face Brush for a professional, flawless finish.
