Hats Off: Introducing The Royal Ascot Millinery Collective 2021
6th May 2021
It’s the highlight of the British summer season, so join us in heralding the return of racing and occasionwear with our sixth Royal Ascot Millinery Collective. Exclusively available in Fenwick of Bond Street, trot along to discover the extraordinary ten-piece hat collection showcasing the very best of British millinery.
Whether trotting-along to the racecourse in your finery or sporting a favourite hat to watch the entertainment online, racing season is back - and as Royal Ascot’s Official Millinery Sponsor we couldn’t be more delighted. Not only an excuse to celebrate the best of contemporary and traditional style, the arrival of Royal Ascot on Tuesday 15th June also heralds the return of occasionwear, being one of the first occasions for more than a year where we can delight in dressing-up.
Created in collaboration with ten exceptionally talented designers, our sixth Royal Ascot Millinery Collective perfectly exemplifies the special relationship between Fenwick and Royal Ascot, showcasing the very best of British fashion and celebrating millinery as the innovative craft and art that we love so dearly.
From emerging designers to the most established names in the industry, our collection includes creations by Philip Treacy OBE, Rachel Trevor-Morgan, Beverley Edmondson, Emily London, Jane Taylor, Julian Garner, Juliette Botterill, Rose Olivia, Stephen Jones OBE, and Victoria Grant.
Mia Fenwick says, “For 139 years, Fenwick has passionately supported the best emerging and established British milliners, and this year more than ever our collaboration feels like a real cause for celebration. A joyful expression of British style and spirit, the exceptional colour, talent and craftsmanship within this collection perfectly signify the arrival of a new season of togetherness that we are all so looking forward to.”
Felicity Barnard, Commercial Director, Ascot Racecourse, commented: “After an incredibly challenging year for the fashion and millinery industries, we are delighted to launch our sixth Millinery Collective in partnership with Fenwick who continue as our Official Millinery Sponsor. This year, we have asked these fantastic British milliners to create a hat that embodies Royal Ascot 2021 and celebrates the nation ‘getting back to normal’ this summer.
“Royal Ascot is a showcase of incredible creativity and although this year’s event will see a much smaller attendance than in usual times, we are shining a light on what is an intrinsic part of racing fashion. In the spirit of conscious shopping – as highlighted in this year’s Royal Ascot Style Guide – we are encouraging people to view millinery as a long-term investment, as you would a fine piece of art. Millinery is timeless and, if cared for properly, a quality piece can last a lifetime.
“We look forward to celebrating Royal Ascot with everyone in June, whether people are with us in their finery at the racecourse or watching all the action from home in their favourite millinery piece.”
The Royal Ascot Millinery Collective will be available to shop exclusively at Fenwick of Bond Street from Thursday 6th May. Discover the full collection below.
**Beverley Edmondson:** “Summer meadows and their flowers were the inspiration for this design. This piece represents the merging of nature and high fashion in an appreciation for everything nature has to offer, especially as many of us would have spent much more time outdoors in the last year. Using traditional straw braid millinery techniques expresses how time moves forwards but traditional skills still play their part in creating something thoroughly modern.” Summer Meadows, £425; [Preen By Thornton Bregazzi Lucy Dress](https://www.fenwick.co.uk/women/clothing/dresses/day/lucy-dress/0001177080-IVORYGONDOLABLOOM.html?dwvar_0001177080-IVORYGONDOLABLOOM_color=Ivory%20Gondola%20Bloom#sc=0&q=preen%20lucy%20dress&start=1), £1,380
**Rachel Trevor-Morgan:** “Our 2021 Collective hat is a delicate floral disc evoking Spring and positivity. The return of Royal Ascot means everything to British milliners. It is always the focal point of our season.” Fleurs de Prairie, £1,785; [Max Mara Tornado Chiffon Midi Dress](https://www.fenwick.co.uk/women/clothing/dresses/cocktail/tornado-chiffon-midi-dress/62211217600-023.html?dwvar_62211217600-023_color=Pink#sc=2&q=max%20mara%20dress&start=53&sz=12&page=2), £465
