Although this Awards Season had a much more considered dress code in honour of the #MeToo movement, stars showcased their personal style with sheer fabrics being one of the most popular trends to take to the red carpet. See-through fabrics added dimension to classic styles - from full looks with well-placed embellishment to cut out panels, frills and overlays. Nicole Kidman looked beautiful in sheer ruffles, while Alison Williams’ sheer skin-toned dress at the Oscars was positively ethereal.

All that glitters is not gold – this Awards Season, all that sparkled was silver. We saw the metallic shining on accessories, shoes and design details all the way through to full sterling looks. Against the chorus of black dresses, silver was used as an embellishment to add shimmering nuances and beautiful patterns. A number of stars wore top-to-toe silver in sequin and embroidered dresses, as seen on breakthrough actress Gal Gadot (above).

This Awards Season, stars proved that power dressing can be as feminine as it can be glamorous. Impeccably tailored two and three-piece suits were seen across the red carpets, from sleek sharp styles to slightly more oversized designs. Actress Susan Saradon donned a classic tuxedo paired with a white shirt for a timeless look, while other celebrities elevated their suits with embroidery or pinstripe embellishment. Incorporating the power dressing trend to their look, actress Winona Ryder wore a tuxedo jacket with her dress.

Celebrities didn’t turn a cold shoulder this Awards Season – instead, their shoulders made a statement. From Eighties-style padded shoulders to extravagant embellishments, floral embroidery and capes, the shoulders were the focus for many looks. Many celebrities wore a dress with an asymmetric shoulder, including actresses Gillian Anderson and Emma Stone as well as supermodel Naomi Campbell who rocked a stylish white suit with statement shoulders.

Emeralds are known for signifying hope, renewal and growth – the perfect accessory for the imminent arrival of spring.
