Renowned for our long-standing lineage with talented artists and illustrators, we are thrilled to announce our Summer Season campaign in partnership with illustrator Julie Verhoeven. She’s the beloved artist to designer fashion brands (think Louis Vuitton) and British royalty (her artwork graces the halls of Kensington Palace), and is now our Artist in Residence for the Summer Season – with her exclusive illustrations decorating everywhere from our store windows to our website. “Fenwick’s Summer Season campaign was an absolute joyous tonic to illustrate. I spent hours at the drawing board meandering through filmic references in my head, entering the visual excesses of A Draughtsman’s Contract, Barry Lyndon and Brideshead Revisited,” explains Julie. However, it was the thought of the races and British seaside that really helped her capture the intrinsic moment of the collaboration, “I pictured myself on the beach, on horseback, parasol, and gin and tonic in hand, being drawn to the distance murmurings of a fantastical summer garden party.” To celebrate our campaign with Julie, we interviewed her in the most imaginative way possible – with a visual Q&A. To each question, Julie answered with an illustration that spoke to her answer. The result? One of our most creative interviews to date.
