As we enter the new fashion season, jeans are playing a big part. Here, we talk to the fashion experts at Fenwick and discover the new must-have cuts, washes and finishes our buyers and personal stylists are coveting. This wide leg pair from [Scotch & Soda](https://www.fenwick.co.uk/search/?cgid=scotchSoda) and the Joan jeans from [J Brand](https://www.fenwick.co.uk/brands/j-brand) epitomise the new season look. Elizabeth Mackirdy, our Buyer at Kingston, is a particular fan of this style: "My favourite jeans of the moment have a high rise on the hip, wider leg, and are a little cropped, often with a raw hem." Pare them back with trainers for off-duty cool, or amp them up with heels and a shirt for a chic style statement. Italian designer Adriano Goldschmied is known as the Godfather of Denim, and these [AG Jeans](https://www.fenwick.co.uk/search/?cgid=agJeans) with their dark rinse and straight cut show why. We’re seeing similar styles from [M.i.h. Jeans](https://www.fenwick.co.uk/search/?cgid=mihJeans) with raw or constructed cuffs, while these J Brand Maria jeans segue beautifully into the new season with their sumptuous red velvet finish. The fashion team at Fenwick Newcastle agrees: "We love the velvet jean trend as it adds a luxuriously autumnal feel to any outfit." But as with any trend, you have to find what works for you. Sophie McDonald, Personal Shopping Stylist at Fenwick of Bond Street, attests that you should "always go for a style that flatters your body shape, rather than a trend which might not suit you." And when you've found a pair that you love, Becky Patsianas, Head of Personal Shopping at Kingston, advises: "When buying fitted denim, go down a size if you feel you can - denim does give over time." With that in mind, check out our top picks below.

## Men's This season, men’s denim is getting a darker rinse and more laid-back feel to the cut. While there’s plenty of wear to be had from light washes, such as these [Scotch & Soda](https://www.fenwick.co.uk/search/?cgid=scotchSoda) Ralston jeans, we’re seeing deeper blue washes coming through, like the Lean Dean and Dude Dan styles from Nudie Jeans. They're the ideal weekend uniform with a sweater and trainers. Black jeans in a straight or tapered cut are making a comeback in a big way for the coming season. Rather than a perfect finish, we’re looking for that washed out, 'worn in' look, as seen on the Nudie Skinny Lin Black Movement and Dude Dan Black Bone jeans. Even when paired with a shirt, these faded and slightly distressed jeans still epitomise effortless cool.
