This wonderful tasting selection of 3 x 75cl bottles of wine, one each from Austria, Germany and South Africa is a perfect way to enjoy some wines that may take you out of your comfort Zone but will surely be a revelation at the same time. Why not log onto our Instagram page to see a recording of the live tasting of these wines with their producers located in their wineries for a hands-on personal experience too. We think a nibble and a sip go together, so we have included some Sesame Seed Pretzels plus a few Thyme and Lemon Olives to enjoy these wines with our compliments. Please see the individual packets for allergen information. Allram Gruner Veltliner Stass from Austria: The Allram estate is in the heart of picturesque Strass im Strassertale approximately 40 miles North West of Vienna. Allram has been one of the leading wineries of the Kamptal for decades run by its family owners, with holdings in the famous vineyards of Heiligenstein, Gaisberg, and Renner. The nose on this wine has both a tangy and a creamy aspect and both are equally enticing. It’s light and easy palate, gentle pear fruit is supported by bright lemony freshness. The finish is dry and zingy. Gunderloch Estate Riesling Trocken from Germany: Gunderloch is one of the top wineries of the Rheinhessen region and their vineyards which line the western bank of the Rhine just south of Mainz are the source of some excellent Rieslings of which this, their Dry Estate Riesling is a prime example. The word Trocken that appears on the label translates as 'dry', but that doesn't mean austere. This is clean and crisp with powerful, citrussy and zesty flavours, a great minerality and a hint of sherbet lemon bite. A benchmark example of modern German dry Riesling. Cape Chamonix Cabernet Franc Franschhoek from South Africa: Franschhoek is a town approximately 50 miles east of Cape town and here, Chamonix’s history dates back to 1688, when it formed part of the French Huguenot la Cotte estate. It is located on some of the highest altitude vineyard sites in the country and follows a philosophy of minimal intervention. Only organic compost and mulch are used in the vineyards, as well as green pruning (removal of some bunches before ripening) to keep the yields down and protect the environment. These natural methods result in this wine having a lovely dark colour, with an enticing nose of violets, dark fruits and spice. The palate is rich and full bodied but elegant, with plum and blackcurrant fruit, lovely concentration and a long, warm finish.
