New season hats have landed at Fenwick Brent Cross, but finding the perfect style can be tricky!
We spoke to Hat Designer Tracy Hillel, who shares her tips and tricks for finding the right winter hat for you...
Wearing a hat is an escape from the everyday and whether it's a simple style or a showstopper, I want my customers to feel fabulous & confident. There's a style to suit everyone, you just need to find the time and take advice to find your perfect hat.
What hat trends are we seeing for AW17?
This AW17 the love for the smaller 50’s style pillbox hats continues to grow but we're definitely seeing a return of the classic embellished trilby shapes too.
What events or occasions would you wear one of your hats at?
Winter is a great time for hats, the beautiful jewel colours and fur felts ooze luxury and style, and can be worn at all social, religious and cultural events. Your hat will finish off an outfit be it for a festival, wedding or bar mitzvah.
What are the ‘rules’ around wearing a winter hat/how should you wear it on your head?
Positioning a hat is of the utmost importance. The smaller style hats are worn low on the forehead, to the front right hand side with the elastic hidden in your hair behind your ears and below your hairline.
What are your tips for styling a hat with an outfit?
When choosing a hat for your outfit it's important to see the whole look together to be certain it all works. You must also take in to account your face shape and hair, and the style of the dress. I always recommend that a customer takes her outfit with her and tries it on when buying a hat. Of course if you spot a hat you absolutely love and can’t live without, I recommend you grab it & put it away for a special event. The same would apply for a ‘go to’ hat, a hat you feel comfortable wearing and would be appropriate for any occasion.
