For this freshest of new editions perfumer Evelyne Boulanger has joyously plundered the tranquility of the English potager garden to exalt the herbaceous godsend that is mint. Likely introduced by the civilising Romans, mint deserves unbridled applause for bringing some much needed verve to Britannia’s often grey temperament. For centuries freshly plucked sprigs were infused with tea to revive the spirits of the leisurely classes when they felt overtaxed. Latterly, it has found itself companion to the rather more urbane and suave Mojito, another uplifting import from more exuberant shores. Mint is most aromatically resplendent when teamed with the bitter and woody complexities found in a classic British tonic, and that, in a dash, is the inspiration for the herbaceous thrill that is Atkinsons Mint & Tonic eau de parfum. A fiendishly versatile scent of sparkling freshness it swooshes into life with top notes of mint, lime and grapefruit that give way to a luminous heart of ginger, geranium and mandarin.
