Introducing the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective for 2019

For its fourth year running, Fenwick is proud to be Royal Ascot’s Official Millinery Sponsor and to present the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective 2019, an exclusive 10-piece collection designed by the most exciting emerging and most respected established names in millinery.

As Royal Ascot’s Official Millinery Sponsor for the fourth season running, Fenwick and Royal Ascot have a rather special relationship. Both celebrate the very best in British fashion, and this is perfectly exemplified in the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective for 2019. This season, we’ve collaborated with 10 of fashion’s most exciting up-and-coming designers as well as the most established names in millinery to create exclusive designs that showcase their stunning creativity and exceptional innovation. The collection includes creations by Awon Golding, Bundle Maclaren, Juliette Botterill, Vivien Sheriff, Philip Treacy OBE, Merve Bayindir, Siana Yewdall, Stephen Jones OBE, Millinery Jill and Layla Leigh. “For over 130 years, Fenwick has been passionate in supporting the very best emerging and established millinery from around the world,” enthuses Mia Fenwick, Brand and Marketing Director at Fenwick. “The exceptional talent and craftsmanship that comes from this collaboration enables us to celebrate British style and spirit in a truly extraordinary way. We are very proud to again partner with Ascot to curate the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective, marking a pivotal part of our Summer Season.” This year, in celebration of the global support for the Royal Meeting, Ascot has welcomed an international designer to the collective for the first time. Joining from Australia, renowned Melbourne-based designer Millinery Jill introduces her structural and sophisticated style into the mix. “British millinery is some of the finest in the world and Royal Ascot is proud to support emerging, as well as established, design talent,” says Juliet Slot, Chief Commercial Officer at Ascot Racecourse. “For 2019, we are excited to introduce an international milliner to the Collective for the first time, recognising the global footprint of our sport and Royal Ascot as an important social occasion.” Royal Ascot is admired the world over for its unparalleled racing, dining and pageantry, and is synonymous with sartorial elegance thanks to its adherent dress codes. It is renowned for the magnificent millinery creations that are on show throughout its five-day run, and each one of these designs in the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective 2019 upholds this world-class reputation.

**Stephen Jones OBE:** “I have been working with Royal Ascot for many years and I was charmed when they invited me to be a part of the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective.” _Stephen Jones hat, £840_

**Bundle Maclaren:** “Our Indie design was inspired by the statement bows and bold block colour we saw in London Fashion Week. We could see that this was going to be a big trend for SS19 and came up with several ideas of how this aesthetic could come to life on hats big and small.” _Bundle Maclaren hat, £495_

**Millinery Jill:** “In Australia I cannot keep up with orders for hats with bigger brims. Also, women’s top hats are creating a strong and fashionable silhouette at the racetrack.” _Millinery Jill hat, £350_

**Awon Golding:** “I've been lucky enough to be invited to take part in the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective two years in a row. What an honour! My design is inspired by classic millinery with a hint of glamour.” _Awon Golding hat, £880_

**Juliette Botterill:** "Tie your hair back away from your face - this will elongate your neck and showcase the hat to its full potential. Make the hat the statement of your outfit - don't hold back!" _Juliette Botterill hat, £610_

**Vivien Sheriff:** “Royal Ascot is the most prestigious racing event, and it is fitting that a collective of the UK's celebrated milliners should be called upon to create a collection of bespoke and one-off pieces.” _Vivien Sheriff hat, £1500_

**Layla Leigh:** “I love the vibrancy of this year’s colours and I have carried this through to my hat for the collective. I'm a huge fan of the sequin trend and for my SS19 collection have incorporated this in too.” _Layla Leigh hat, £295_

**Merve Bayindir:** “The design for this piece took about a month. The base colour was very important, and it was hard to get it right. We then had to cut and colour each individual leaf. It is a special hat and took time and intricate detail to make it.” _Merve Bayindir hat, £2,700_

**Siana Yewdall:** “I always like to advise choosing a hat that makes you feel happy and confident, and if you are happy and comfortable in your hat, you will forget you have it on! The right hat will make you smile!” _Siana Yewdall hat, £550_

**Philip Treacy OBE:** “This is a handblocked calotte I have been working on since last summer. It is a lifetime combination of craft and techniques combined with new raw materials. It’s an ode to British tradition adapted for contemporary society.” _Philip Treacy hat, £2,995_
