Your beach holiday may have been cancelled, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the waves. Reclaim salty seaside locks with a little help from Samantha Cusick, as the salon-founder and star-approved hairdresser demonstrates with the Platinum+ Styler by ghd.

Step One: Prep hair

Start by towel drying wet hair. Apply a small amount of ghd’s Advanced Split End Therapy on the tips of your fingers, and gently comb your fingers through your hair, starting from the base and working through to the ends. Brush wet hair with a paddle brush, ensuring it is tangle-free. Finish by blow drying hair with the ghd Air Hair Dryer.

Step Two: Heat protect & section

Prep dry hair with the ghd Curl Hold Spray – it doubles up as a curl hold and a heat protectant. Make sure to spray hair approximately two inches from the root until the ends. Section hair down the centre into two parts. Clip the hair on the right-side together to keep it out of the way, and section the left side in half, horizontally. Clip up the top section of hair to the crown of your head, leaving the bottom section down and available to start styling.

Step Three: Create waves

Take a small section of hair, create a ‘S’-shaped bend at the root, and apply heat using a tapping motion with the ghd Platinum+ Styler to hold the shape. Continue to make these bends in the hair whilst applying heat to style, until you get to the ends of the hair. This will create a kinky, wavey look to the hair. Continue to do this, alternating the directing in which you start your ‘S’-shapes at the root, until you have completed the bottom section. Unclip the top section of hair and repeat the same ‘S’-shaped bends in the hair, concentrating on perfecting the hair framing the face. Repeat the exact same styling steps on the right side.

Step Four: Dress it out

Take a wide toothed comb, and brush through the ends of the hair, working your way up to the top, to loosen and separate the waves. Using your hands, shake out your hair working your way from the scalp to the roots. Optional: finish with ghd’s Final Fix Hairspray to hold the waves all day long.
