Meet the designers of De La Vali: the Ibiza-infused partywear brand

Founded by Ibizan-raised life-long friends Jana Haveman and Laura Castro, De La Vali takes inspiration from the bohemian nature and alluring beauty of the island they grew up in. A glamorous new addition to our [Occasionwear Edit](https://www.fenwick.co.uk/edit/occasionwear-edit/women), we caught up with the girls behind the party-spirited clothing brand that can be seen proudly draped on none other than Kate Moss and Dua Lipa.

###### **How would you describe your aesthetic?** Bold, vivacious, sensual, free-spirited. ###### **What inspired you to launch the brand and how has it evolved?** We grew up in Ibiza together as children so from a young age it became clear that we shared a passion for clothing. As we grew into our teens we moved to Amsterdam together. It was there where we discovered that we shared the same aesthetic, we loved all of the same things - especially vintage. It was there that we decided to travel to India to make our very first collection. We brought this collection back to Ibiza and the next thing we knew the whole island was wearing it, soon after we were featured in vogue and Kate Moss was wearing our brand. Due to this grassroots, organic success, we decided to take things a little more seriously and started up in a studio in London which led us to where we are now. ###### **Where does your inspiration come from?** Each of our collections tends to offer a slightly playful narrative - we are inspired by an array of things such as traditional Spanish culture, and different cultures we have had the benefit of discovering via travels – travel is a real passion of ours. We also have a love of film – especially vintage movies; they can be such an inspiring source as you can explore strong characters, stories and the mood for a collection. We are also inspired by history and eras past, our next collection is called Vaudeville and is inspired by a theatrical event that took place in the early 20th century featuring a mix of burlesque acts, comedy, song and dance.

###### **How do you want the women to feel in your pieces?** Empowered and beautiful. We want a woman to put on our dresses and feel like the best version of themselves. ###### **Talk us through the collection for Fenwick.** ‘Evissa’ is a love letter to our brand heritage of Ibiza, a truly authentic representation of and captivating narrative that explores the magic of the Island through its famously hedonistic factors alongside some of the more traditional Spanish design elements such as the statement frilled hemline of The Fuente. Colours are bright and bold and representative of the beauty of the Island, such as the Vivienne and Lori in a rich Magenta satin inspired by the shade of traditional Bougainvillea flowers and the Picante in a stunning ocean blue hue. ###### **What’s the most exciting thing about being a designer today?** Freedom of expression, to do whatever you like in terms of design. ###### **Where are you travelling this summer?** We will be spending the majority of the summer in Ibiza but we might pop to Positiono and Greece too. ###### **Name a place that always inspires you.** Besides Ibiza we love Cadaques, it’s a small idyllic town on the coast of Spain. It was where Salvador Dali used to live and many artists travelled there in the 60s. The windy cobbled streets and bright bougainvillaea are a constant inspiration to De La Vali. ###### **What do you always pack in your carry-on?** A good book, phone with podcasts and music, hydrating face cream for the flight. ###### **What songs are on your summer playlist?** * Celestial blues- Gary Bartz Ntu Troop * Yo quiero trabajar- La Dame Blanche * Family Affair- Iggy Pop ###### **Our Summer Revel campaign celebrates escapism and freedom, where do you feel free?** Ibiza, our home.
