Looking for the perfect place to take a shopping break? Discover Fenwick Newcastle’s bakery-patisserie-café, Mason + Rye, ideal for a light lunch or indulgent afternoon tea.
The star of the show is the theatre bakery (above). Based at the centre of the café, this fun element will allow diners to watch the patisserie team through glass walls as they work hard to create the highest quality vienoiserie cakes, scones and biscuits from a vast menu serving up a wide range of delectable sweet and savoury options.
Opt for one of the tempting selections from the breakfast or lunch menu, such as the grilled goats cheese tart, £7.90, or avocado, lemon juice and chilli on sour dough toast, £5. If you have a sweet tooth, go for toasted brioche, seasonal fruits and crème fraiche, £3.50, or take home a box of fresh individual handmade cakes, from £15.
Mason + Rye’s concept and menu have been created by Fenwick Executive Chef Kelly Richardson, with support from prominent restaurateur Terry Laybourne of the 21 Hospitality Group Fenwick Executive Chef Kelly says: “At Fenwick, we have a strong ethos on fresh and premium produce so it’s really important to us that Mason + Rye offers exactly that – a wide variety of top quality goods with a home-baked feel. It’s another exciting venture that we think our customers will love.”
