Founded in 2016, Goldfield & Banks is a tribute to the unique, lustrous and extraordinary beauty of Australia as well as an homage to Joseph Banks, the British botanist who was the first to introduce Australian native flora to Europe after his voyage with Captain Cook in 1770. The brand celebrates the beauty and the wealth of native Australian plants, creating a luxurious collection of unisex perfumes using unexplored and unravelled plant and flower extracts never before used in fine fragrances, blended with the world’s most precious notes. Velvet Splendour is like pressing one’s face into a large bunch of sunburnt wild flowers. It brings to mind a long drive through the wide open, breezy and cloudless countryside of the Flinders Ranges and evokes the mimosa tree bursting into bloom, marking the first sign of an Australian Spring. Soft yellows are shaded against blue skies. The first inhale is an immediate mix of green stems, yellow blooms, cool air and warm light. Created by perfumer Wessel-Jan Kos, this exotic and unique fragrance starts out with bright top notes of mandarin and hedione that give way to a sunburnt floral heart of mimosa absolute, orange blossom absolute and jasmine sambac. A dry-down of oppoponax, tonka bean, patchouli, vetiver, leather accord, heliotropine and Australian sandalwood rounds out this exotic unisex Oriental-Spicy eau de parfum.
