In 1978, Jean-Charles Brosseau, already well known in the fashion world for his hats and accessories, launched his first unisex fragrance, BrossEau, in his attractive boutique on Place des Victoires, in Paris. This citrus eau de toilette caught the attention not only of consumers but also of perfume professionals. They encouraged him to develop a fragrance for women, and thus was born the masterpiece of his life: Ombre Rose. The elegance and delicacy of this oriental-floral fragrance with powdery notes opened the doors to an unexpected and dazzling success, first in the United States, where it was launched, and then in the rest of the world. The refinement of the glass bottle with its frosted and repolished motifs, reminiscent of the 1930s, also contributed to the success of Ombre Rose, which is now considered a classic of French perfumery after having been a source of inspiration for equally famous fragrances. Other highly inspired fragrances followed, including Ombre Bleue, Ombre Platine, Ombre Orientale, Ombre Rubis, Ombre Azurite, the Fleurs d'Ombre women's collection and the Collection Homme.
