The Fenwick Magpie Cocktail

To celebrate our new partnership with Newcastle United, we are marching the NUFC Magpie into our Fenwick Newcastle store (in the form of a tasty cocktail). Oh, when the Mags go marching in!

Whether you're settling pre-match nerves or ready to introduce a new tradition to matchday, head in-store to toast two of the city's icons coming together. ‘The Fenwick Magpie’ Cocktail is timeless and refreshing (just like our favourite football team), made with Tequila Blanco, Cointreau, Lime, and Salt.

Ingredients:

40ml Ocho Tequila

20ml Cointreau

20ml Fresh Lime Juice

Flaked Rock Salt

Lime Zest

Dehydrated Lime/Lime Wheel

Prep the glass:

1. Zest a lime ahead of time, to ensure time for air-drying. This will prevent clumping.

2. To prepare the glass, mix the air-dried lime zest with flaked rock salt. Sprinkle this mixture onto a shallow plate, ensuring enough green is visible.

3. On a separate flat plate pour a thin layer of sugar syrup.

4. Roll the rim of the glass (around 1inch to create a strip) into the sugar syrup and then into the lime/salt plate, aim for 1 inch in thickness to create a stripe.

How to make the cocktail:

1. Add the Ocho Tequila, Fresh Lime Juice, and Cointreau to a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice and shake until chilled.

2. Double strain into your salted rocks glass and garnish with the lime slice.

3. Finish with a dehydrated or fresh lime wheel.
